The Move

This was the beginning of the day. They started by placing 6 hydraulic jacks around the house that were all connected to one master control box. Then they moved the whole house up as one. It was pretty neat to see.
Once they got the house up to the correct height they started to back the truck in under it. This took a lot of time and more than a little bit of skill on the part of Bob, the truck driver.
Once they got the truck under the home, they expanded the center part so that the entire house was supported underneath.
This is them as they lowered the house onto the truck. It's more than a little bit strange to see this stuff happening to your house!
Beside our house here there was a gas lamp and then there was a gas line accross the street so it took some finessing to get the house out of the lot. It was strange to see the house move and the covered deck stay put.
Finally arriving at our new place. When Bob eyeballed it back to the position we wanted it in, he was only off by 1/2" . That's really impressive. And when they leveled it, they were only off by 1" over the entire 74' home. The thing that impressed me the most though, was that I had left a glass of water on the window sill in the kitchen and there was not a drop spilled when it was all said and done. I also liked that we didn't really have to pack anything, just took the dishes out of the cupboard and the pictures off the wall. What a way to travel!
